Democracy and Governance Program
Improving Local Level Governance by Strengthening Union Parishads and Creating Citizens Awareness funded by USAID implemented in 50 Unions of Khulna , Bagerhat, Norail, Dinajpur and Nilphamari districts. This project aims at strengthening Local Government Institution through the participation of the local level citizens through the formation of Citizens Forum and particularly emphasizing on decentralization of local government institutions. The project initiated peoples support to strengthen Union Parishads in undertaking its activities in cooperation and coordination of the citizens as well as initiating local development through local resource mobilization through enhanced tax collection and other local resource building for the Union Parishads.
Major Focuses of the project
Improvement of local governance at the Union Parishad level through people's participation aiming at accountable and transparent Union Parishads fulfill the people's demand in offering due services and privileges.
Major Output of the project
50 Union Parishads are serving the people with their local resource mobilization in coordination with and cooperation from the Citizens.
